2016 Professional Development Series to Kick Off with Amy Maschue!
We have the first workshops of our 2016 Professional Development set! As always, we’re bringing in well-loved presenters who are bringing you best practices on sought-after out-of-school time topics!
Join us for “Autism After School: 50 Challenges & Solutions” presented by Amy Maschue, a certified speech pathologist who has been working with Arizona children for over 15 years. This session was highly-rated at our 2015 School’s Out, Make it Count! Professional Development Confererence and we’re bringing it to even more OST staff by taking it on the road!
1 in 68 children is diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder—a diagnosis which encompasses a wide range of complex development disorders. Every kid with autism brings their own unique talents, humor, perspectives and challenges to your out-of-school time program. But our challenge is how we can best meet their needs.
This professional development workshop will teach you evidence-based practices that will empower you to create a fun, inclusive and enriching program environment for all youth. This workshop will give you a stronger understanding of autism spectrum disorder and the ways it can impact behavior and communication. Our presenter will lead you through a discussion of common challenges and proven strategies for promoting meaningful communication and interactions with kids diagnosed with ASD.
Join us for these sessions while we still have space!
